Hello my readers, fans, and potential secret admirers and welcome to my very first blog. I will begin by telling you a little bit about myself. My name is Abigail Lewis. I go by Abi for short. It used to be spelled A-b-b-y until last Spring when I decided to change it to A-b-i. I found out later that this is not the phonetically correct way to spell my name, however I am too stubborn to change it back so for now I am just rolling with it. Enough about my name though, I am a sophomore and majoring in Social Science here at Florida State. I am from an Island in Saint Augustine, Florida called Anastasia Island where I live with my Mom, Dad, two sisters, and two adorable little puppies. I spent my summer walking to the beach with my dogs and reading my books until the sun went down. I am nostalgic just thinking about it, however I am glad to be back at Florida State to continue my education.

I do not have very much experience with technology. Aside from my favorite childhood (and adulthood) passion for making music videos on IMovie, I really do not use my computer for much else other than Netflix, YouTube, and all the other pointless websites I go on when I should be studying instead. I am of course familiar with Microsoft word and and Microsoft PowerPoint. As I have been required to use both resources frequently throughout my academic career.

I have never taken any kind of technology class throughout my years of schooling so anything I know currently is self taught. Technology classes were actually not even offered at my high school. I am looking forward to this class because, as a future teacher, I want to be capable of using technology and be able to utilize it to maximize my ability to reach my students. My mom works in the school district and one of the most stressful components of the job for her is the technology aspect because she has never had training in the area. I am hoping that after taking this class technology will be something that will work with me to reach students rather then against me.
